In the spotlight for February: Ashley Rodriguez of Holston House Nashville:
- I benefit most by being able to stay connected to the Nashville travel community – I have met so many wonderful people along the way who are always willing to help each other. The monthly meetings are also very informative which is extremely helpful, now more than ever.
As Area Manager of Business Travel Sales, what’s the most important piece of advice you give to your travelers?
Health and safety are always a top priority – always ask questions if you are unsure about a new area you may be traveling to and make sure that the location you are booking is compliant with your company’s travel policy. Always have a point of contact handy should any questions or concerns arise during your travels.
What's the best piece of travel advice you've received?
Safety is always a top priority and never book anywhere that makes you feel even slightly hesitant. Ask all of the questions, especially if you’re traveling somewhere new. Create an itinerary to maximize your time to ensure you experience as much as possible.
Where is the first place you’re going to travel when the pandemic is over?
This is a tough choice, but I would have to say Hawaii! My husband and I were supposed to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary in Hawaii last year but changed our plans due to the pandemic.
Would you rather see a lot of places or get to know one really well?
This really all depends on a couple of things – I went to Europe for the first time in 2019 on a Mediterranean cruise and loved that I got to see 6 countries in 7 seven days. This allowed me to identify my favorite places that I’d like to come back to visit and spend more time in.
When you travel, do you stick to a tight schedule or explore and go with the flow?
If I am traveling somewhere for the first time and only have a day to explore, I usually stick to a tight schedule so I can see as much as possible. If it’s somewhere I’ve been before, I am much more laid back and spontaneous.
